Big Buddy Program

Meadowland Elementary School
2015-2016 School Year

Until this year, the Meadowland Big Buddy Program has been funded by out-of-pocket donations from dedicated educators. Elementary students facing a myriad of challenges that could prevent academic success are paired with a teacher mentor. They meet with their mentor on a regular basis to play games and build relationships. Twice a year, the program holds a celebration. Though no direct tutoring occurs during the meetings, this type of mentoring is connected with a wide range of positive outcomes including improved attendance and stronger academic performance.

The Big Buddy Program grew enormously during the 2014-2015 school year, up to 30 students from 15 the previous year. H4OC funds will be used to purchase new board games and pay for bi-annual clebrations during the 2015-2016 school year.
