Flexible Seating

Dominion Trail Elementary School
4th Grade Classroom

My students are 8-10 year old 4th graders. This year, I have 26 students, but because this project is meant to support a classroom from year to year, my class size can reach as high as 27-28. They love to let lose energy while working. This can be hopping up and down, standing up, walking or sitting in different positions. Many, if not all, need movement – some of which is constant – to keep them focused. Currently, much of my classroom furniture, inhibits what they can academically do. I want to be able to provide alternative and flexible seating for my students, in order to differentiate the needs of my students. This includes students that don’t have the needed parental, financial, nutritional, or physical support at home. My students learn the best when they can do what is comfortable for them or when their body is in motion.

The seating will include flexible seating and support that my students can choose from daily. Here is a list of what the grant money would go towards: yoga balls, body pillows and covers, wobble chairs, bean bags, Romanoff lap trays, softzone carry me cushions, bouncy bands for desk (black support pipes), bouncy bands for chair (black support pipes), four piece foam puzzle chair or table, Brentwood Originals 2136 Plush Bed Rest, Teal, Brentwood 3438 Crown Chenille Floor Cushion, 24-Inch, Gaiam Kids Stay-N-Play Balance Ball, Stability Balance Disk :: Best Chair Cushion Seating Disc :: Wobble / Wiggle Air Seat Disks for Kids & Adults :: Core Strength Training and Exercise :: 100% Money Back Guarantee and Lifetime Warranty.
