5th Grade Classroom with Special Needs

Many of our classrooms are set up like they were in the “olden days” with rows of desks and hard chairs. While our learning has evolved, our classrooms have not! I would like to provide students with a warm, welcome, homelike environment where they can engage in a variety of learning experiences in a room that is more conducive to this. I am imagining some different sized tables and more comfortable chairs. My 6 special ed students would love a few exercise balls with feet for kids who need to be moving while working. I would love to have a few taller tables for students who like to stand and work. Some new bean bag chairs would be wonderful for students to read and discuss the villains in their partner reading. I really would love to make my room feel like the most inviting place to learn.
