Project Based Learning & Flexible Seating

Dominion Trails Elementary School
3rd Grade Classroom

Our mission, as a Project Based Learning classroom, is to actively explore real world problems and challenges to acquire deeper knowledge. The students will help drive the decision making in the classroom and will engage in hands on learning projects that align with the Virginia SOLs. Our students will be utilizing 21st century skills including; communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking. We are ecstatic to get started on our very first year as a co-taught PBL classroom!

Our classroom consists of two licensed teachers and 44 students from multiple cultures, socioeconomic backgrounds, diverse abilities, and styles of learning. We would love to incorporate flexible seating to ensure comfort and security within our classroom. This new PBL classroom will take place in a lab within Dominion Trail Elementary School during the 2016-2017 school year. It is a co-teaching environment with ongoing projects that include reading, math, social studies, science, and health. The projects will be driven by student inquiry.
